COVID-19 is the infectious disease caused by a novel coronavirus. This new virus and disease were unknown to the population before the outbreak began in Wuhan, China, in December 2019.
Woodford County is closely monitoring the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Woodford County Health Department (WCHD) is working with local healthcare community partners and following guidance provided by the Illinois Department of Health (IDPH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Phase 4 Guidelines
To prepare businesses and employers to implement new and updated safety guidelines in Phase 4, the State of Illinois has developed this business toolkit complete with signage, posters, and other resources to ensure business and activities are conducted in accordance with the latest public health recommendations.
Phase 4 guidelines include five new industry categories and updated recommendations for the existing categories from Phase 3. Each set of guidelines includes a common set of guidelines that are expected and encouraged among all employers and activity types, as well as workplace and program-specific guidelines.
Phase 3 Guidelines for Reopening Business and Returning People to Work Safely
On Tuesday, May 5th, Governor Pritzker released Restore Illinois, a five-phased plan that will reopen our state, guided by health metrics and with marked by distinct business, education, and recreation activities characterizing each phase. The Restore Illinois plan recognizes that the economy will start growing again when consumers feel that it is safe to return to work, shop and dine out, and engage in social and recreational activities. Under the Restore Illinois framework, certain businesses and activities are allowed to resume in Phase 3 with IDPH-approved safety guidance in place. Governor Pritzker recently announced the Remote Patient Monitoring Program to serve Illinoisans potentially infected with COVID-19 who will be able to recover from the safety of their homes.
Through this program, Health Workers will digitally connect with you when you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms but do not require emergency or inpatient care. Patients will receive daily virtual visits and receive wellness kits that include things like thermometers, pulse oximeters, blood pressure cuffs, and alcohol wipes.

Woodford County Health Department COVID-19 Response
The mission of the Woodford County Health Department (WCHD) is to improve the health and well-being of our community through health education, health promotion and preventive health services. WCHD highly recommends the public to continue to follow Governor Pritzker’s Executive Order.
There are many challenges and unknowns with the COVID-19 pandemic. WCHD urges the public to use precautions such as proper hand hygiene, social distancing (at least 6 feet) and wearing a mask.
WCHD, and other local health departments, follow the guidance directed by Illinois Department of Public Health to protect our communities against infectious disease. Historically, WCHD has worked to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and continues to do so during this time.
WCHD will continue to work with our community partners and surrounding local health departments to protect the health and well-being of all.

COVID-19 Testing-What to Know before you Go
Bring a photo ID and an insurance card only if you have one. Insurance cards are accepted if you have one, but you are not required to display proof of health insurance in order to be tested for COVID-19. Insurance will be billedif applicable.
Please be sure to give an accurate, valid phone number when filling out your pre-test paperwork. Your results will be given to you via phone, and results will not be disclosed in a voicemail. It is important that you answer the phone and speak to the agent trying to reach you with your test results when they call.
Depending on which COVID-19 Testing Site you visit, it may take anywhere between 4-7 calendar days before you receive your results, depending on testing site and lab capacity. If you do not receive your results within 7 days, please call a representative from your testing site location for more information.
Testing Site locations provide COVID-19 test results electronically (by phone or text message). If you need written proof of having your COVID-19 test done OR if you need written proof of your COVID-19 test results, please let the agent at your testing site know prior to your test so they can work with you to make arrangements.
Testing is especially encouraged for individuals showing symptoms consistent of COVID-19, however, symptoms are not required to be tested. COVID-19 symptoms may include: fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headaches, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea.

More About Covid-19-What You Can Do
Public Health (nationally, statewide and locally) is monitoring the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation. We have many community partners and plans in place which we practice frequently.
Things you can do to prevent the spread of illness are:
- wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
- avoid close contact with people who are sick
- avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
- covering coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue
- clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
- get your annual flu shot
- stay home when you are sick (except to get medical care)
- If you have underlying health conditions and/or are elderly, consider avoiding gatherings or other situations of potential exposure
If you are concerned that you may have COVID-19, contact your medical provider by phone. Do not go to prompt care locations or emergency rooms unless you are told to do so by your medical provider.
